PZL Mielec Delivers S-70 Black Hawk Helicopters to the Philippines

MIELEC, Poland, January 16, 2025 – PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company delivered 10 S-70i™ Black Hawk^® helicopters in 2024 to the Philippine Department of National Defense (DND), under the DND’s Additional Utility Helicopters Acquisition Project.  

The contract with the Philippines for 32 aircraft is the largest single order of Black Hawk helicopters for PZL Mielec since S-70i aircraft production began in 2009. The helicopters will be received by the Philippine Air Force’s 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing.

Signed in February 2022, this contract outlines delivery of all 32 aircraft over the next two years and will enhance the operational capacity of the Philippine Air Force to perform search and rescue missions, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and troop transport across the archipelago. The first five aircraft under this contract were delivered in June 2024; another five aircraft were delivered in December 2024. 

The S-70 Black Hawk and the UH-60M Black Hawk share the same rugged, reliable, multi-mission capabilities. 

Sikorsky in the Philippines 

Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has supported operations in the Philippines since the late 1960s with Sikorsky S-62B and H-34 aircraft. The company has supported two S-70A Black Hawk aircraft since 1984 and 17 S-76 aircraft since 1983 in a variety of utility, search and rescue, and VIP operations. With its current fleet of 15 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters and the additional 32 aircraft the DND will take delivery of from Lockheed Martin subsidiary PZL Mielec, Philippines will become the largest S-70i operator in the world.  

In September 2023, Lockheed Martin appointed Asian Aerospace as the official original equipment manufacturer (OEM) authorized reseller of Sikorsky spare parts and repair services for the Black Hawk helicopter family of products in the Philippines. This places OEM-approved, high-quality parts in the hands of the customers to sustain their rapidly growing fleet and ensures a dedicated resource for reliable support.
