Mielec, Poland, June 7, 2021 – PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company, has transferred five more S-70i Black Hawk helicopters to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) at Clark Air Base. The five new aircraft boost current deliveries to 11 multi-mission Combat Utility Helicopters for the PAF, which has ordered 16.
“We are grateful for the trust that the Republic of the Philippines has placed in PZL Mielec and the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk aircraft for its Combat Utility Helicopter fleet,” said Janusz Zakręcki, PZL Mielec president and general director. “We were able to complete delivery on time according to the schedule as a result of the strong partnership between PZL, Sikorsky, the Philippine Department of National Defense and the Philippine Air Force.”
The Philippine Government awarded PZL Mielec the contract for 16 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters in April 2019 as part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Act. The first batch of six Black Hawk helicopters was delivered in December 2020. The third and final batch of five aircraft will be delivered in late 2021.
The Black Hawk helicopter is a proven, best-in-class multi-mission helicopter platform. As Combat Utility Helicopters, the PAF will be able to quickly configure its new fleet for a range of military and humanitarian missions.
PZL Mielec is the largest Lockheed Martin aircraft manufacturing site outside the U.S. The company has more than 80 years’ experience producing aircraft, and since 2009 has manufactured 75 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters for 10 countries.
