MIELEC, October 7, 2025 – PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company has completed the production of the 700th cabin for the multi-role Black Hawk helicopter program, marking another milestone in the history of one of the world’s most recognizable military helicopters.

Cabin production in PZL Mielec began in 2008 with the manufacture of the first parts, and a year later the first cabin was completed. Since then, PZL Mielec has continuously supported the global Black Hawk supply chain by delivering high-quality components for final helicopter assembly both in the United States and in Poland. Each cabin is the result of the work of hundreds of engineers, technicians, and specialists who ensure the precision, safety, and reliability of the structure.

“The completion of the 700th cabin is the result of a proven process, high quality standards, and our highly experienced workforce,” said Janusz Zakręcki, PZL Mielec President, General Director. “It is a great success and a testament to the trust our partners place in the quality and reliability delivered by PZL Mielec on the Black Hawk helicopter, F-16 fighter jet and more.”

The Black Hawk cabin is the largest and most complex component of the entire helicopter structure. It also provides the mounting points for key systems – including fuel tanks, engines, and the main rotor transmission.

The cabins are built at PZL Mielec’s cutting-edge production facility, featuring specialized equipment and precision at every step. Nearly 90% of all cabin components including machined and formed parts, composite structures and electrical harnesses are produced in-house. The process combines advanced technology with the workforce’s expertise, from welding and machining large structural components to detailed quality inspections, ensuring each cabin meets the safety and reliability standards required for military aircraft.

Once completed, cabins manufactured at PZL Mielec are integrated into Black Hawk helicopters assembled in Poland, while others are delivered to Sikorsky facilities in the United States for incorporation into UH-60M Black Hawks for the U.S. Army.

PZL Mielec is one of Poland’s biggest defense exporters and underpins a robust European supply chain, employing 1,700 workers and indirectly sustaining about 5,000 jobs across the European Union with its network of 1,200 suppliers across the region.

The iconic Black Hawk helicopter is the premier multi-role helicopter trusted by over 36 countries and has proven its capabilities in the most austere of environments while providing an operational readiness rate of over 92% in combat conditions. Built to meet military safety and survivability standards the Black Hawk is the most durable and survivable helicopter in the world and able to take off and fly in strong winds, operate in high altitudes, land on steep slopes, and sustain combat damage and hard landings.
