PZL Mielec Secures First Prize in National Mechanical Engineering Competition

The award was presented to the PZL Engineer Department representatives in Warsaw

Mielec, Oct. 09, 2024 – The Technical Division of PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company,  won the first prize in the 17th edition of the prestigious industry competition for the "Best Technical Achievement of 2023", organized by the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians (SIMP). The award ceremony took place on September 20, 2024, at the Warsaw University of Technology, as part of the Mechanic's Day celebrations.

The PZL Mielec team was recognized in the category of "Implementation Achievements in Industry" for their original project "Computer-aided implementation of the production of the fuselage of the multi-role aircraft F-16 Block 70/72". This project included two stages: digital modeling of the fuselage structures and implementation of advanced production technologies. Thanks to the use of digital mock-ups, the production implementation process was significantly shortened, which contributed to cost reduction.

The work and commitment of our engineers has a direct impact on the efficiency of the F-16 Block 70/72 aircraft structure production program at PZL Mielec,"  said Janusz Zakręcki, PZL President, General Director.

The winning team that developed the award-winning project included highly trained employees and technical experts from PZL Mielec.

By winning the SIMP award for the third time in history, PZL Mielec has once again confirmed its position among the leading Polish aviation companies. The company has achieved this thanks to the commitment of its engineers and the use of modern technologies. Previous awards concerned projects related to the creation of a production line for parts of the 787 DREAMLINER aircraft using the High Speed solution Machining and an innovative material composition for stamping coated aircraft parts.

The Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians has been supporting talented, ambitious and innovative creators of technology for years, combining tradition with modern knowledge. The best specialists in this interdisciplinary field are awarded the title of "Mechanical Engineer of the Year", and participants of nationwide SIMP competitions can win prestigious awards and distinctions.
