Polish National Police Honored with Sikorsky Rescue Award

At the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce, PZL Mielec, in partnership with Sikorsky, presented the prestigious Sikorsky Rescue Award to Deputy Chief of National Police, major general dr. Rafal Kochanczyk. The ceremony was held at the PZL Mielec booth, set against the backdrop of an S-70i Black Hawk helicopter, the aircraft that plays a vital role in the police’s life-saving missions.

Gen. Rafał Kochańczyk, Deputy Chief of the Polish National Police, received a commemorative plaque during MSPO. It was presented by Janusz Zakręcki, President and General Director of PZL Mielec, and Piotr Niedbała, PZL Sales and Programs Director.

The award was presented to the Polish National Police pilots, operators, and crews for their professionalism and courage during rescue missions between 2020 and 2025. With the S-70i Black Hawk helicopters delivered by PZL Mielec, they evacuated civilians during floods, transported humanitarian aid to areas cut off by water, and supported the State Fire Service in firefighting missions using the Bambi Bucket.

We thank you for your courage, dedication, and professionalism” – we are proud that you are not only operators, but also true heroes,” said Janusz Zakręcki, President and General Director of PZL Mielec.
